Instructions for use
1. Characteristics, composition, and intended use of the medical device
1.1 Description and directions for use
DAMUPROST suppositories are a medical device used as a supplement in the local treatment of painful urogenital and anorectal conditions. Thanks to their local protective and lubricating effect in the anorectal area, the suppositories may relieve pain in both acute and chronic prostate conditions and are helpful in cases of prostatitis. Due to their soothing effects, the suppositories are suitable for short-term use in cases of constipation and hemorrhoidal congestion (blood accumulation in hemorrhoids).
1.2 Composition
Each 2g DAMUPROST suppository contains:
- Lactoferrin
- Glycerophosphoinositol (GPI)
- Hyaluronic acid
2. Package size
The package contains 10 single-use suppositories in a blister pack.
3. Method of use and dosage
It is recommended to use 1 suppository per day, preferably in the evening before bedtime. For optimal effect, the suppository should be inserted deep into the rectal cavity.
4. Known side effects
No short-, medium-, or long-term side effects are known. DAMUPROST has no adverse effect on sensory abilities (alertness, ability to drive or operate machinery). However, if you experience any side effects such as excessive irritation, pain, or discomfort, stop using the suppositories immediately and consult your doctor.
5. Warnings and precautions
- Uneven dark color of the suppository is a characteristic feature and not a sign of reduced effectiveness or improper storage.
- Keep DAMUPROST out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use DAMUPROST after the expiration date stated on the box and blister.
- DAMUPROST is not sterile; nevertheless, do not use the suppositories if the primary packaging (blister) is damaged.
- Each suppository is for single use only. Remove it from the packaging just before use. Do not use damaged or previously unwrapped suppositories as they may be contaminated.
- Do not attempt to reuse a suppository that has been expelled after the first attempt.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
6. Interactions with medicines and other medical devices
DAMUPROST suppositories may shorten gastrointestinal transit time and thus affect the absorption of orally administered medicines. Therefore, it is recommended to wait at least 2 hours between taking oral medication and using DAMUPROST. Never use DAMUPROST suppositories simultaneously with oral medications or other medical devices. If you are taking any medications, consult your doctor before using DAMUPROST suppositories.
7. Contraindications and limitations of use
Do not use in children under 12 years of age. Use of DAMUPROST suppositories is not recommended in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Do not use in the following cases:
- acute abdominal pain or pain of unknown origin;
- nausea and vomiting;
- intestinal obstruction or narrowing;
- rectal bleeding of unknown origin;
- acute hemorrhoidal crisis with pain and bleeding;
- severe dehydration.
No data are available on the use of DAMUPROST suppositories during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before use. Elderly individuals and people in poor health should consult their doctor before using DAMUPROST suppositories.
8. Storage
Store suppositories in the blister pack in a dry place, protected from direct light and heat sources. Remove the suppository from the blister just before use. Store at temperatures up to 25°C.
